The Importance Of A Manicure!

I have been a receptionist at PHP Upton for 17 years and have made many appointments for clients in my time, one of them being regular nail clips.

One of my cats is very naughty and when my husband is given the job to bring her up to us for an appointment, goes into hiding…..usually the under the middle of the spare bed where she knows no one can reach.  You can imagine her thought process when she sees him descending upon her with her red harness and lead………no way hosay!

Consequently she managed to avoid her manicure for many months.

Eventually on the last Saturday morning I was roto’d to work we made a concerted effort to catch her and bring her to see our nurse Emily for a nail clip.

Emily started to trim her overlong claws and immediately noticed her wincing when she touched one of them, for a very gentle natured cat, this was unusual.  Upon further investigation it would appear that the dew claw was growing back  into the paw and causing discomfort. Emily and our vet Jenessa sprang into action and sorted out this malady forthwith.

Once I returned home from my shift, my cat, Babooshka was allowed off her harness and the freedom of the house and garden.

Babooshka was like a cat with new batteries!  She was leaping and jumping and climbing the garden fences in a way I had never seen before!  She looked so happy and full of life and it made me realise how uncomfortable she had been before.  I felt so guilty that I hadn’t realised and resolved never to let her get away with hiding from appointments in the future.

A nail clip/manicure is very important for clients AND staff.
